Oscar-winning writer and director Woody Allen is keeping up with his usual pace of one feature film a year. His new feature titled Blue Jasmine is being released in select theatres this summer courtesy of Sony Pictures Classics. The film marks Woody Allen’s return to the United States for the first time since 2009’s Whatever Works starring Larry David. Specific plot details are currently under wraps but the film is said to be focusing on the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife.
The first official image of Blue Jasmine is posted below and it features a very upset Cate Blanchett in the foreground and a relaxed Sally Hawkins in the background. If I were to make an educated guess, I’m guessing that Blanchett portrays the fashionable New York housewife who is having a crisis. Like many of Allen’s previous efforts, Blue Jasmine features a dynamic cast that includes Alec Baldwin, Louis C.K., Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Bobby Cannavale.
Blue Jasmine is set for a limited theatrical release on July 26th with a planned release expansion.
