Jonathan Levine is easily one of the best directors working in Hollywood right now. His films always feature very strong characters in real situations. The Wackness took the coming-of-age story and added some flavor with the help of Josh Peck and 50/50 proved that it’s possible to make a film about cancer into a comedy. It balanced that fine line of drama and comedy perfectly, which makes his newest film, Warm Bodies, the most interesting. The cast consists of Teresa Palmer, Nicholas Hoult, John Malkovich and Rob Corddry.
It’s based on a book of the same name and it’s about a zombie that rescues a girl from death by his peers. Their odd romance leads to love and possibly new life. The concept sounds corny as hell and the image looks like its copying Twilight without a doubt, but Levine has yet to really disappoint. He’s on a streak right now and I don’t see why he’d mess it up now with such a weird idea.
It’s going to require some excellent direction on his part to sell the whole thing, but I have faith in him. What about you?
