I’m loving the idea of more and more foreign directors making their way to the mainstream in Hollywood. Kim Jee-Woon‘s The Last Stand just dropped in theaters this past Friday and while it’s not as good as his previous work (I Saw the Devil) it does show a promising new direction for the gifted filmmaker if he chooses to stick around in America for a bit longer.
Another foreign director making his debut is Bong Joon-ho (The Host) with the science fiction thriller Snowpiercer. The film stars Song Kang-ho, Chris Evans, Alison Pill, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, John Hurt, Ed Harris and Octavia Spencer.
Today we’ve been given our first official look at the film (see above), plus some concept art to mull over.
Read the synopsis below and then check out the concept art below:
Synopsis:
Snowpiercer is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. A class system evolves on the train but a revolution brews.
Snowpiercer is set to open sometime this summer.
