Yesterday at the San Diego Comic-Con we were presented with the first footage from Andrew Niccol‘s upcoming film In Time starring Justin Timberlake. It seems like the movie has a nice concept. The fact that in this sci-fi movie they are using time as currency could prove to be an interesting plot mechanic. What worries me about this movie however is the fact that this is the first we’ve heard about it, yet it is due out in theaters in a short few months. Thanks to IGN for the four-minute footage below. In Time stars Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried, Cillian Murphy, Vincent Kartheiser, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Galecki, Olivia Wilde, and Matthew Bomer.
In Time is set to hit theaters on October 28th, 2011.
“In Time” presents a world where time has become the ultimate currency. You stop aging at 25, but there’s a catch: you’re genetically-engineered to live only one more year, unless you can buy your way out of it. The rich “earn” decades at a time (remaining at age 25), becoming essentially immortal, while the rest beg, borrow or steal enough hours to make it through the day. When a man from the wrong side of the tracks is falsely accused of murder, he is forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage. Living minute to minute, the duo’s love becomes a powerful tool in their war against the system.
