Oscar-winning writer and director Alexander Payne’s next film, the low-key black and white feature titled Nebraska, is premiering at the Cannes Film Festival. Soon enough we’ll be reading the first handful of reviews for the film. In the mean time, you can check out an official image and the first clip from the low budget road film below.
Nebraska stars Oscar-nominated actor Bruce Dern as an aging, booze-addled father who makes the trip from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son (Saturday Night Live alum Will Forte) in order to claim a million dollar Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes prize.
The clip hints that Bruce Dern and Will Forte are going to have an enemy in the film. I’m a huge fan of Alexander Payne. His films are humorous and profound. I must say that I’m much looking forward to Nebraska. Although this film is going to be a much smaller effort than his previous films, it should contain the essence of what makes Payne’s films so great.
Paramount scheduled Nebraska for a limited release on November 22nd, right in the heart of Oscar season.
