Just a couple days ago, the official logo and synopsis for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes arrived online. Now there’s an official on-set photo. Director Matt Reeves posted the first photo from the set of the sequel. The photo shows Jason Clarke confronting a pre-CGI Caesar, performed by Andy Serkis. Judging from the image, it appears that the apes will use horses as transportation. Check out the photo below.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
The sequel has rounded up a cast that includes Kodi Smit-McPhee, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, and Judy Greer. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set to arrive in theaters on May 23rd, 2014.
