‘Entourage’ Movie Gets the Greenlight

Since the 8th and final season of Entourage ended, creator/writer Doug Ellin has been talking about making a movie to cap off the HBO series.  A while back, he talked about finishing the script, and all he would reveal is the movie takes place 6 months after the series ended.  That seems natural, as most seasons ended with Vince (Adrian Grenier) finishing up a movie, or going off to start a new one, with the next season picking up with the success or failure of the previous venture.

Warner Brothers has apparently greenlit the movie, so I expect it will begin shooting soon, with the main cast returning, not to mention what are sure to be plenty of cameos by the many stars and celebrities that play themselves, or hilarious versions of themselves, on the show.

Since the series ended, it seems Entourage is cool to make fun of, with a lot of outlets making it out to be a Jersey Shore-type show that attracts a similar audience.  While that may be true to an extent, the real fun of the show was that fact that it was making fun of those people more than anything.  Johnny Drama is a giant douche, the comedy is in the fact that he doesn’t realize it, nor does Turtle.  While some audiences may see themselves in the characters and have some type of fantasy fulfillment from the show, most of us were laughing at them, not with them, and it was an interesting satire on modern Hollywood.  I look forward to the movie, as I’m sure many people do, and we’ll keep you updated as the movie progresses.  All I have to say is it better have Billy in it.
