A film adaptation of Emma Forrest’s 2011 memoir Your Voice In My Head has been in development since its publication. At one point, director David Yates was attached to direct but dropped out last spring due to scheduling conflicts. The film was also set to star Emma Watson and Stanley Tucci but it appears that Emma Watson has also dropped out of the project for unspecified reasoning
Stanley Tucci recently confirmed to Digital Spy that Emma Watson is no longer going to star in the film but her replacement has already been found. It’s been reported that Golden Globe nominated actress Emily Blunt has replaced Emma Watson and will star in the adaptation. Your Voice In My Head centers on writer Emma Forrest’s battle with self-destructive behavior. She enlists the help of a psychiatrist (Stanley Tucci) who saves her life.
Interestingly, the news of Emma Watson dropping out the project came shortly after the announcement of the young actress turning down the titular role in Disney’s live-action reboot of Cinderella. Emily Blunt is a fine choice for a replacement. She’s fantastic in just about every film she’s been in. Judging from the brief synopsis, Your Voice In My Head seems like it’ll be heavy dramatic material so hopefully we’ll get to witness Emily Blunt showcasing her talent at a higher level.
Your Voice In My Head is aiming to start production in the spring. Hopefully a suitable director will get hired soon so this promising project can get into high gear.
