The cast for Christopher Nolan’s reportedly ambitious sci-fi epic Interstellar keeps growing and growing. The Wrap has reported that Oscar-winning actress Ellen Burstyn, rising star Mackenzie Foy, and Oscar-nominated actor John Lithgow have joined the incredible ensemble cast.
The cast already includes Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, and Bill Irwin. It’s been reported that Christopher Nolan will be merging an original idea of his own with the script that his brother Jonathan Nolan had already written when Steven Spielberg was attached to direct. The sci-fi project centers on a group of explorers who travel through a wormhole and into another dimension.
The most interesting casting choice is Ellen Burstyn, who has been nominated for 6 Oscar nominations throughout her career and won for Martin Scorsese’s 1975 film Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Mackenzie Foy, who played Bella and Edward’s daughter Renesmee in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, will soon be seen in James Wan’s The Conjuring. John Lithgow recently appeared in Judd Apatow’s This Is 40. No roles have been specified as of yet because details on the film have been very minimal.
Filming is expected to begin later this fall. Interstellar will be arriving in conventional and IMAX theaters on November 7th, 2014. What do you think of the latest casting news? Stay tuned for more casting announcements and further details.
