While Eli Roth hasn’t directed a film since 2007’s Hostel II, he’s still been quite busy in the landscape of Hollywood. He has been developing a few different projects, including the sci-fi epic Endangered Species, shooting his Netflix original series Hemlock Grove, acting in Inglourious Basterds, producing The Man With the Iron Fists for Rza, producing and starring in Aftershock, and opening his own high tech haunted experience this fall in Las Vegas.
While starring in and producing Aftershock, Roth says he was inspired by filming in Chile and also had this to say:
“I’ve had an amazing few years producing, writing and acting, and am very excited to get back in the director’s chair. I’ve been working on this idea for several years, and was inspired by filming in Chili and cannot wait to get back.”
The film will be called The Green Inferno, and while no one knows any plot details, it is known he co-wrote it with Aftershock co-writer Guillermo Amodeo. When we learn more about this project, other than the fact that it will shoot in Chile and Peru, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
