‘Dredd’ Not Flopping On Home Video

One of the most entertaining action films of last year was Pete TravisDredd 3D. I had an absolute blast (read my review) watching star Karl Urban annihilate wrong-doers as he delivered hot steaming plates of justice, acting as judge, jury and executioner. But for some odd reason none of the action fans that usually dig this kind of flick turned up.

They stayed home or went out and did something else, because Dredd 3D failed miserably at the box office, almost guaranteeing us a 0% chance of a theatrical sequel, with some of the original cast returning.

Now, after the dust has settled, we’ve been told that the film is doing really solid business on Blu-ray. It’s one of the top-selling ones of the year and that’s great to hear.

I doubt that will lead to a sequel getting the greenlight, but wouldn’t it be cool if Dredd continues to stay strong and win out the home box office market? I can tell you firsthand that the 3D is spectacular (especially on a Blu-ray 3D setup) and that the entire disc is worth a purchase.

Have you watched Dredd yet? If not, can you tell us why you skipped over it?
