Disney is finally starting to bring things back to theaters, with a slew of films scheduled to drop in theaters this summer, as well as onto Disney+ for a pretty penny ($29.99 plus a D+ sub). One film that I am particularly looking forward to is Jaume Collet-Serra‘s Jungle Cruise, which stars Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt and Edgar Ramirez. Also, there is Jesse Plemons involvement, which makes this an automatic winner.
Anyways, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa lead the screenplay credits too, which rounds out this film, which is based on the popular Disney theme park ride.
Jungle Cruise looks like an exciting romp done up with Disney flare, which means a big budget, a stacked cast and surely a good time to be had. The fact that they got director Jaume Collet-Serra means the film will at least have distinct visuals, as Collet-Serra is known for creative editing and camera movement.
Johnson and Blunt seem to have good chemistry and are keeping things light, which has Jungle Cruise looking to be another live-action Disney winner.
I’m just excited that we aren’t seeing yet another animated adaptation to live-action with a more serious tone as those ones have been absolutely killing my excitement for any sort of Disney IP.
Jungle Cruise looks like a return to fun and a film for all ages.
It opens this July. Check out the trailer below:
