Just a few days ago, it was reported that Ben Affleck has pushed back his next directorial project Live By Night so he can take a lead role in David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel Gone Girl. The big question is: who’s going to play the titular character? Names like Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Emily Blunt, and Reese Witherspoon were thrown into the mix but now it looks like director David Fincher has his eye on someone else.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jack Reacher star Rosamund Pike is the current front-runner and Fincher‘s favorite for the high-profile role. If she is cast in the film, she’ll be portraying Amy Dunne, the wife of Nick Dunne (Affleck) who goes missing without a trace on the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary.
Now that Fincher’s plans for 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea are dead in the water (pun intended), Fincher plans to start shooting Gone Girl this fall for a 2014 release. The film, written by Gillian Flynn, will be co-financed by 20th Century Fox and New Regency. Do you think Rosamund Pike would be perfect for the part? If not, who do you want to see in the lead role?
