Those of you wondering what director Darren Aronofsky is planning on doing next will be thrilled to know that his passion project, Noah, is set to start shooting in July. Deadline has confirmed that Aronofsky and his new leading man, Russell Crowe, are locked and ready to go for this summer.
The Dark Knight Rises star Christian Bale was once attached to the biblical epic, but he had to drop out due to back-to-back filming on Terrence Malick‘s upcoming films Lawless and Knight of Cups. It would have been great to see Bale work with Aronofsky, but Crowe is a more than capable replacement.
Aronofsky co-wrote the screenplay with Ariel Mandel and Paramount will be distributing.
There’s just something about a big-budget Aronofsky film that is making 2013 look even better and better. That is assuming we survive the apocalypse in December.
