Chris Pratt To Lead ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

Marvel has been quickly moving forward on their intergalactic Guardians of the Galaxy film, with rumors about a character maybe popping up at the end of Iron Man 3. That means that casting needs to get locked down soon, so things can get going.

One of the bigger human character roles in the film is that of Peter Quill, an astronaut also known as Starlord. We’ve now got confirmation that Parks & Recreations star Chris Pratt will be playing the role in James Gunn‘s upcoming film.

Pratt was recently in Zero Dark Thirty, Moneyball, The Five-Year Engagement and Take Me Home Tonight.

Since I’m not too familiar with the Guardians I can’t comment on how fitting Pratt is for the role, but I can say that he’s a talented performer and I look forward to seeing him get this kind of exposure. Pratt’s a good guy and this is going to be great for his career.

Also, there’s been some heavy rumors surrounding Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler possibly taking on some voice-acting roles for some of Pratt’s co-stars. Wouldn’t that be an odd pair to add to the mix?

Guardians of the Galaxy has a current release date of August 1st, 2014.
