Even though filming is already underway for next year’s Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, there are still two guardians that have yet to be officially cast: an extraterrestrial tree creature named Groot and the gun-wielding Rocket Raccoon, two CGI-rendered characters that are key members of the Guardians fleet. It’s been all but confirmed that Vin Diesel will be voicing a Groot and now a well-known Oscar-nominated actor is in early talks with Marvel to voice Rocket Raccoon.
According to The Wrap, Marvel is in early talks with Silver Linings Playbook actor Bradley Cooper to voice the role of Rocket Raccoon in the sci-fi adventure.
Director James Gunn (Slither and Super) has assembled quite the mix-bag of talent for the sure-to-be obscure superhero adaptation with a cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Benicio Del Toro, Dave Bautista, Glenn Close, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, and John C. Reily. An official offer hasn’t been made as of yet. If an official offer is made and Cooper signs on, this will be his first time voicing a CGI character.
