Despite the bad press after the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado, many wondered what the grosses would be like for The Dark Knight Risesbut despite the tragedy, people still came out to see the film, opening it a few million dollars more than the The Dark Knight, but not enough to topple Avengers and the last Harry Potter film for the opening weekend record.  Still, it will do fine and make all the money they need, probably over a billion dollars when everything is said and done.

Ice Age: Continental Drift is still doing fine, playing as counter-programming for the kids.  The Amazing  didn’t take too bad a hit, it has now made most of its production budget back.  Ted is still doing well, at nearly $200 million, it’s a surprise summer hit.  Brave

Magic Mike is still doing better than expected, passing the $100 million mark this past weekend.  Savages is creeping up to breaking even, which is basically the best I think it was expected to do.

Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection is making standard Tyler Perry money, which is enough to fund his next few movies and turn a profit for the studio.  Moonrise Kingdom and To Rome With are holding strong in the top 10, playing long for the type of movies they are, and the time of year they were released.
