Tis the season to release blood-soaked images from two highly-anticipated horror remakes. The first one on deck is newcomer director Fede Alvarez‘s take on the Sam Raimi classic, Evil Dead.
So far the marketing for the film has been strong, pushing hard on the use of practical gore and keeping the tone serious where the Raimi films veered off into silly territory. I’ve liked virtually all of the stuff Sony has been dropping for this film, including these new images. They don’t reveal much of anything we haven’t already seen in the multiple trailers, but they act as great friendly reminders letting us know that the film’s April 5th release date is approaching.
The best thing about these new photos is the red-tinted poster, which I’ve tagged on at the very end. Totally diggin’ it!
The second horror remake to get a new photo is Kimberly Peirce‘s Carrie, which stars Chloe Grace Moretz.
Disturbing is the only word that pops into my head when I view this new image:
Carrie opens on October 18th, 2013.
