From The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu comes the latest airplane horror film simply titled 7500. It stars Shimizu along with Leslie Bibb, Jamie Chung, Jerry Ferrara, Amy Smart and Ryan Kwanten.
I personally enjoy films that take place in one location, whether it is a plane or a phone booth. I think it challenges the director and makes them adapt to their surroundings, hopefully making for a better and more effective film. Sometimes these things are simply used as a marketing gimmick to get you in the theater guessing what’s going to happen, not providing you with any real confined terror, but instead an excuse to film something on the cheap end.
The film looks kind of silly, but in a good way. It could provide two hours of fun, watching innocent young 20 year old’s getting picked off one by one in the sky or it could be a test of patience, with an obvious villain. I hope it’s the first, but I’ve been wrong many times before.
7500 will open in theaters on August 31st, 2012.
