45th Annual CMA Awards

Well tonight is Country Music’s biggest night of the year. That’s right folks. It’s the CMA Awards Show tonight. For those of you who don’t like country music that’s a shame. They put just as much work into their music as every other artist throughout each and every genre. Regardless if you like country or not, it’s still a great night. The artists get recognized for all of their hard work that they have put into their music throughout the year. Hosting the 45th Annual CMA Awards this year is the same duo that has done the past few years, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood.

This year’s show has a huge line up of performers; Jason Aldean, The Band Perry, Natasha Bedingfield, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Sara Evans, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Kenny Rogers, Martina McBride, Scotty McCreery, Matt Nathanson, Brad Paisley, Grace Potter, Rascal Flatts, Lionel Richie, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Thompson Square, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Chris Young and Zac Brown Band. That is honestly an amazing line up of performers! There are some new faces in the bunch also. Glad to see that they are there and welcome.

The 45th Annual CMA Awards also had a tribute for Glen Campbell. Campbell was awarded with the CMA entertainer and male vocalist of the year in 1968. He was voted into the Country Hall of Fame in 2005. Unfortunately Campbell announced in June that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He is currently on a farewell tour which is following the release of his last album, Ghost on the Canvas.

Oh yeah, another big thing that happened this year was that Faith Hill made her first appearance back on the CMA stage. This was the first time back in five years.

Well here are the nominees, sorted by categories. The ones indicted with Italics and Bold are the winners of their respective category.

Well there we go folks. Another year of Country has past us by. It was fantastic to sit down and listen to all of these talented musicians perform. Paisley and Underwood did an awesome job, as usual, hosting this year. The beginning of the event was hilarious because of the skits they did. My favorite joke that they did was when they brought out an old man dressed up as Justin Bieber and made fun of his current crisis. If you didn’t know his current crisis it’s the whole baby scandal.

To be quite honest, I’m not very knowledgeable with older country music or artists. However, to the three of them singing Glen Campbell‘s songs right in front of him was touching. Not to mention they also had him come up on stage to thank him for everything that he did in his career. Quite touching.

If you watched the CMA’s tonight, I hope you enjoyed yourself. I know I sure did. It was nice to sit down and watch all of the country stars in one spot. Of course there were a few performers that I personally didn’t like but they obviously have a fan base. Let’s hope next year is just as good as it was this year.
