It was bound to happen. If you have been paying attention to the numbers as of late you would have notice that Universals Fast Five is is about the collide with the $600 million worldwide barrier. With those types of numbers how can one not expect another film? Well Universal has just set the date on the newest installment in the Fast & the Furious franchise, which is currently going under the name of The Fast and the Furious 6, according to TheFilmStage. Supposedly Justin Lin (Fast Five, Fast & Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) is expected to return as the director and he is bringing along all the major actors back. We should be seeing the likes of Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson back for the sixth film. The film is set to hit theaters on May 24th, 2013.
Robert Schwentke‘s action comedy R.I.P.D. will be hitting theaters just over a month after The Fast and the Furious 6 on June 28th, 2013. R.I.P.D. stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Universal’s two films join a pretty big list of other summer blockbusters to be released. The other films include; Iron Man 3, Oblivion, Monsters University, Despicable Me 2, and The Dark Tower. That is of course none of them get pushed back.
Out of all those listed I personally think I’m looking forward to the new installment in the Fast and the Furious franchise. I really liked what they did with Fast Five and I think if they continue on with what they started in that one, the next one should be just as good. What do you think? Out of all those that were listed, which do you find more interesting?
