It’s difficult at this point to predict if Labor Day, the latest film from Oscar nominated director Jason Reitman (Thank You For Smoking, Juno, Up in the Air), will be a major contender in this year’s Oscar race but this looks really good. The drama, based on Joyce Maynard’s novel, looks much different from Reitman’s previous works. Don’t believe me? Check out not one, but two trailers for the drama below (courtesy of Slash Film and Moviefone).
Depressed single mom Adele (Kate Winslet) and her son Henry (Gattlin Griffith) offer a wounded, fearsome man (Josh Brolin) a ride. As police search town for the escaped convict, the mother and son gradually learn his true story as their options become increasingly limited. Tobey Maguire, Clark Gregg, Maika Monroe, and Dylan Minnette co-star.
Paramount will be releasing Labor Day in limited theatres on December 25th with a planned expansion on January 31st. What do you think?
