Spider-Man Battles Electro And Other Villains In New Trailer For ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’

“Not everyone has a happy ending.” Sony Pictures has released the new trailer for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 starring Andrew Garfield as the masked web slinger in what appears to be an electrifying sequel (see what I did there?) As Peter Parker fought The Lizard last time around in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, he now faces a greater threat (three to be exact). Check out the trailer below.

Official Synopsis:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The sequel looks epic in scale but a bit overloaded with the villains. Not only does Jamie Foxx appear as the villainous Electro, but the Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) will also pose a threat. There are also a ton of hints in the trailer that basically confirms that we’ll eventually see Spider-Man battle the Sinister Six, whether in this sequel or the next. Although this looks remarkably better than the first, I just hope that Marc Webb isn’t getting ahead of himself by putting too much into one film. Emma Stone, Sally Field, Chris Cooper, Felicity Jones, and B.J. Novak co-star.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters on May 2nd, 2014. Are you looking forward to this?
