Second Trailer For David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook Looks Much More Promising

The first trailer for David O. Russell‘s Silver Linings Playbook was somewhat disappointing. It looked neither funny nor dramatic and I was beginning to worry. O. Russell directed one of my favorite films of 2010, The Fighter, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting for his follow-up film and this newly released second trailer lowers my worries and increases my anticipation.

What this second trailer does a good job at is selling the family humor and the family drama. O. Russell has a knack for making things stick really well in films, but not so much in trailers. Cooper looks to be giving a conflicting performance, while Lawrence seems to be shooting for more of a comedic approach. Am I the only one smiling after seeing Tucker briefly appear on screen? It’s been too long.

Silver Linings Playbook stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and Chris Tucker and it opens at the 2012 Twin Cities Film Fest on October 18th, followed by its wide release on November 21st, 2012.
