Official Trailer For Dustin Hoffman’s Directorial Debut ‘Quartet’

The official trailer for Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut Quartet has arrived. The film had its world premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and was most recently showcased at the 2012 Milwaukee Film Festival (see my review here). Quartet stars award nominated actors Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly, Sheridan Smith, and Michael Gambon.

The film centers on a group of retired musicians and opera singers who reside in the Beecham House, a retirement home in England’s countryside. A legendary opera singer by the name of Jean (Maggie Smith) arrives to discover that her heart broken ex-husband Reginald (Tom Courtenay) also resides at the Beecham House. Every year, there is a gala concert to celebrate Verdi. At first, Jean is against the idea to perform in front of an audience again. As Jean and Reginald patch together their once broken romance, Jean is influenced by Reginald, Wilfred (Billy Connolly), and Cecily (Sheridan Smith) to be part of the quartet so they can perform at the annual gala.

Quartet opens nationwide on January 4th, 2013.
