Annapurna Pictures, the production company behind Oscar-caliber films Zero Dark Thirty and The Master, have a film on their release slate that may be off people’s radars now but probably won’t be come this March. Harmony Korine’s sun-soaked crime pic Spring Breakers, which has been gaining a lot of buzz since its premiere at the 2012 Venice Film Festival, takes “girls gone wild” literally. The film will be making its way to theaters in a limited release in New York and LA on March 22nd and one week later it’ll be released nationwide.
Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson, and Rachel Korine star as four college students who fund their spring break vacation by robbing a fast food joint. An amateur rapper and local thug (James Franco) bail the girls out and take them under his wing.
When Spring Breakers goes nationwide on the 29th, it’s up against films such as The Croods, The Host, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Olympus Has Fallen. It’ll be a packed weekend at the local multiplex but don’t let this film slip your mind because it seems like it could be a fun and crazy film. Oh, and by the way, posted below is the official poster for the film.
