Musician turned horror director Rob Zombie has had quite an interesting career, spawning some truly unique and influential horror films of the modern age, while also churning out complete and utter cinematic garbage.

Arguably, his greatest film is The Devil’s Rejects, which is one of the best modern day horror films. It’s a film that wears its 70s influences on its sleeve with pride, giving us one of the most uncomfortable pieces of horror grit to ever hit the big screen.

One of the best parts about The Devil’s Rejects is its iconic ending, which sees the main three characters (played by Sheri Moon Zombie, Sid Haig and Bill Moseley) go out, guns blazing with some Freebird playing in the background.

3 From Hell picks up immediately after these events, with the murderers somehow “walking away” from the incident. This new trailer gives us a little bit more to work with, showing them escape prison and make a few friends along the way.

I must say, 3 From Hell looks like a return to form for director Rob Zombie, who once showed so much potential with House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects and his Halloween remake, only to waste away his talent with garbage like H2: Halloween II and The Lords of Salem.

This new film looks to be as gritty and as raw as the film’s predecessor, with multiple highlight performances from the stars and supporting cast.

I will note that the lacking amount of Sid Haig footage has me worrying for the worst, but we’ll have to wait and see the eventual outcome, once this film drops in select theaters this September.
