New Trailer For Baz Luhrmann’s ‘The Great Gatsby’

the great gatsby 2

At one time, Baz Luhrmann’s 3D adaptation of the literary classic The Great Gatsby was considered an early Oscar contender. Just a few months ago it had a prime December release date but was surprisingly bumped off the winter schedule due to financial reasons and was placed among next year’s summer blockbusters. This past summer, a first trailer appeared online that solidified the fact that Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation is going to be much more ambitious than the 1974 film starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. A second trailer has arrived and it looks visually astounding. Check out the trailer below:

Official Plot Synopsis:

The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan), and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton). It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, and Jason Clarke. The film is set to open nationwide on May 10th, 2013.
