New R-Rated Spot For Young Adult

I’m really digging the marketing for Young Adult. Each brief clip is nastier than the last. This latest R-rated clip features star Charlize Theron, who comes across as a complete bitch. Her character in the film is that of an alcoholic novelist who returns to her hometown to try and rekindle the flames with her old high school boyfriend, who is now married. The film also stars Patton Oswalt and Patrick Wilson.

I generally like Jason Reitman‘s work. Up in the Air and Thank You for Smoking are two really good movies that should have gotten more attention at the Oscars. Juno isn’t my thing, which worries me because Diablo Cody also wrote Young Adult. Still, I’m a huge fan of dark comedies and Young Adult looks like the perfect film to accompany the holidays.

Young Adult opens in limited release on December 2nd, with a wider release scheduled a week later.

Check out the R-rated clip below, thanks to Collider.

Synopsis:

Academy Award(R) winner Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either.
