Lily Collins To Star In ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’

It’s been a tough road for a film adaptation of Seth Grahame Smith’s best-selling mash-up Pride And Prejudice And Zombies. Filmmakers David O. Russell, Mike White, and Craig Gillespie tried to tackle the project but due to unforeseen conflicts, they each had to back out. There were also several actresses attached to the lead role or at least flirted with the idea such as Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson, Mia Wasikowska, and Blake Lively.

It’s been quite sometime since news has broke about this project. Now it seems the film has risen from the dead as 24-year-old actress Lily Collins is in final negotiations to headline the film. Collins is best known for her roles in The Blind Side and Mirror Mirror. This summer, she appears in the film adaptation of the YA novel Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Burr Steers is set to helm the project. Wait, who? Just incase you don’t know who he is, Burr Steer directed the films Igby Goes Down, 17 Again, and Charlie St. Cloud. This is clearly an interesting direction. On the bright side, David O. Russell’s screenplay is going to be used.

It appears that Lionsgate has officially abandoned the project. Panorama will produce and finance the project at Cannes later this month. Although Burr Steers is an uninspired choice, it’s a smart move casting Lily Collins since she is a rising star. Screen Gems are already planning on Mortal Instruments: City of Bones to be a box office hit.  Hopefully there are no further conflicts and the project won’t fizzle out again. The mash-up novel puts a dark and humorous spin on a classic story. It’s perfect material for the silver screen.
