Jeremy Renner & Gemma Arterton In First Trailer For Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters

Director Tommy Wirkola‘s upcoming film Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters has had some trouble over at Paramount. The film was completed sometime ago, yet here it sits for a release next January. The latest word on the street is that the studio was testing both a PG-13 cut of the film and an R-rated cut. I’ve been told that the R-rated cut is the version we’ll be seeing in theaters, but that has yet to be confirmed.

The studio is taking advantage of actor Jeremy Renner‘s recent fame in The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy by releasing the first trailer for the film, in which he co-stars alongside Gemma Arterton, plus appearances by Peter Stormare and Famke Janssen.

I’m sort of getting a Van Helsing vibe and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not just yet. This could be an entertaining flick or it could be another disastrous project that should have stayed on the shelf.

Which do you think it will end up being?
