According to Variety Sony is looking to move forward on their comedy Sex Tape, with director Nicholas Stoller (Get Him to the Greek). The film centers on a married couple that has a night off from the kids and decides to make a sex tape. In the morning the tape goes missing and they begin an adventure to find it.
The film sounds like another hilarious R-rated comedy, but what makes it all the better is the rumored casting of Jason Segel and Reese Witherspoon. Segel worked with director Nicholas Stoller before on the highly under-appreciated Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Witherspoon has her moments if the project is right.
There is also a rumor that actresses Emily Blunt, Amy Adams, Rose Byrne and Jennifer Garner are also in the mix to play the leading role. I think I’d still prefer to see Witherspoon in the role because she could really do something different with it. The rest of the actresses rumored have already been doing really good lately, while Witherspoon has sunk into the typical romantic comedy genre that hasn’t been so kind to her (cough How Do You Know).
Stoller and Segel are always great and the concept sounds like something fun, so let’s hope this project gets off the ground soon!
