TRON: Legacy and On The Road actor Garrett Hedlund has been offered a leading role in Joe Wright’s Pan, the Warner Bros. adaptation of the classic story Peter Pan. It’s been reported that Hedlund has beat out the likes of Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire and American Hustle) and Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being A Wallflower) for the role.

The film, written by Jason Fuchs, will follow the young orphan Peter Pan, who ends up in Neverland for the very first time, as he leads a rebellion against the villainous Blackbeard. In this particular story, Captain Hook starts out as an ally before turning into a villain himself.

Just a couple months ago, it was reported that Hugh Jackman would be portraying Blackbeard. An open casting call is out for the titular role of Peter Pan, a role in which producers are hoping to cast a young unknown actor.

Joe Wright (Atonement and Anna Karenina) will be directing the 3D adaptation, which is set to arrive in theaters on July 17th, 2015. With a prime summer release date, we can only assume that Warner Bros. is hopeful. Are you looking forward to this?
