Hot off the heels of the first trailer, Ruben Fleischer‘s Gangster Squad has been moved from “coming this fall” to September 7th, 2012, according to Box Office Mojo.

That’s a prime slot for Oscar consideration and just a generally good time of year to release a star-studded gangster picture. This also shows a sign of faith by Warner Brothers, who tends to release some stronger films in the September to December range.

Now it’s time to move onto the saddening news…

Alfonso Cuaron‘s 3D sci-fi film Gravity, starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, has been pushed back from its November 21st release date to 2013. No official release date has been given or a reason for the sudden change. Gravity was on my radar for the year-end and I’m a little upset about the news.

Will you be checking out Gangster Squad in September? Are you upset about Gravity‘s release date change?
