Lionsgate has recently announced on Twitter that Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer has officially joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 in the role of Cressida.
Based on the trilogy by author Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2 follows heroine Katniss Everdeen’s journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the corrupt Capitol. To those of you who are unfamiliar with the character that Dormer will be portraying, Cressida plays a key role in helping Katniss lead the rebellion.
Natalie Dormer is on the rise and deservedly so. The actress will next be seen in Ron Howard’s racing drama Rush opposite Chris Hemsworth and Ridley Scott’s crime drama The Counselor opposite Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Brad Pitt, and Cameron Diaz.
The first part of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay arrives in theaters on November 21st, 2014 and the second part arrives on November 20th, 2015. Both parts will be directed by Francis Lawrence, who helmed this November’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. What do you think of the casting?
