First Trailer For ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Is Bananas

I’m just going to come out and say it; I’ve always thought that the Thor series was Marvel’s highlight. I’ll take Chris Hemsworth‘s hammer-wielding brute over Robert Downey Jr.‘s arrogant Iron Man or Chris Evans‘ do-gooder Captain America.

I liked Thor and loved Thor: The Dark World, which means my head should probably explode after my first viewing of Thor: Ragnarok.

Marvel has been on a hot streak as of late, with Doctor Strange and Captain America: Civil War proving that there’s plenty of life left in their ever-expanding cinematic universe.

Heck, their trailers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 have been nothing short of amazing.

And now we’ve got a teaser for Thor: Ragnarok.

It carries that same playful 80s vibe that worked in the Guardians Vol. 2 trailers, yet now the comedic charms of Thor are elevated to a whole new level.

I’ve been told that director Taika Waititi is not to be messed with or taken lightly, which seems to be more apparent after having watched the trailer, which is fun, campy, big, exciting and all sorts of colorful.

Most importantly, it’s different. People may knock on Marvel for following formula, but this one looks like it’s taking that shiny formula and throwing it right out of the window.

Asgard is destroyed and Thor is left battling in some sort of cosmo coliseum against none other than his old buddy Hulk.

Also, Cate Blanchett as a villain and Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki as the usual suave and untrusting Loki.

November is going to be good to us.
