First Trailer for ‘Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter’

Author Seth Grahame-Smith has so far made his living writing novels that combine historical figures, or characters from historical novels with modern day genre conventions.  Director David O. Russell was long attached to make the film version of Grahame-Smith’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a novel revered less for its quality than its outrageous title.  However, his follow up, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter also caught fire, again mostly due to the title.

When producers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (who earlier joined forces for the animated film 9) jumped on board Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, many figured the project would linger in development hell like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which has Natalie Portman signed on as producer.  However, things moved quickly, and the busy Bekmambetov decided it would be his next directing project.

Seth Grahame-Smith was hired to write the script, with a later rewrite done by new genre favorite Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Jumper, Elysium, and Sherlock Holmes, to name a few) who has in recent years become a highly paid script doctor for various genre films.   The film stars Benjamin Walker as our titular hero, with Anthony Mackie and Mary Elizabeth Winstead co-starring in the film.  Much has been made as to what the film would actually be like, and today we get the first peek at footage from the film in the teaser trailer, which you can see below.  Does it look cheesy?  Awesome?  Will this lead to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies finally getting made?  See for yourself.
