Sully is Clint Eastwood‘s latest based on a true story film that dives into a freak airplane accident that could have ended horribly wrong, yet manages not to, thanks to the expert landing of the pilot.
The film’s trailer attempts to stir up quite a lot of drama for Tom Hanks‘ character, leaving the film feeling like a more washed out and grey version of Robert Zemeckis‘ Flight, minus a drugged and liquored up Denzel Washington.
Flight managed to earn Washington an Oscar nod. Will Sully do the same for Hanks?
I’m unusually interested in the film, despite my general dislike for Eastwood’s films and the odd focus on the controversy surrounding the main character of the film, which I didn’t know had any.
I thought the pilot landed the plane as clean as he could and was then praised as a hero and that was the end of it? This film proposes that there’s much more to the story and I’m hoping Eastwood can deliver a film that’s engaging and insightful for those of us not extremely familiar with the real-life events that inspired this motion picture.
