Seriously, do filmmakers even have time to breathe anymore? James DeMonaco‘s The Purge was one of last summer’s boring and uninteresting horror films that managed to make quite a bit of money, which meant that a sequel was immediately greenlit. And by immediately I mean the writer-director literally jumped back behind the cameras to pump out this follow-up, titled The Purge: Anarchy.
It looks like Ethan Hawke and the rest of the original cast won’t be returning and are instead replaced by mostly unknowns and Frank Grillo, who doesn’t even appear in this first trailer.
I’m not going to lie when I say that this sequel already looks incredibly cheaper and rushed and that shouldn’t come as any surprise.
Studios are pumping out sequels faster than we can even process and I’m not a fan of the idea.
The Purge: Anarchy drops in June.
