Last night the MTV Movie Awards happened. I didn’t watch them, because I actually care about movies.
Sometime over the course of the night the full-length trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire aired. Again, I didn’t see it, because I value the medium of film and I’d rather spend time watering a plant or something when give the option to watch one of the worst movie awards shows in the history of such.
Today we’ve been given the trailer online, without having to sift through the awards and to be honest it’s not much of anything that we haven’t already seen in The Hunger Games. The visual style looks similar, despite director Francis Lawrence swapping places with Gary Ross.
Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence are all returning, plus an evil-looking Philip Seymour Hoffman, which is the sole reason that I’ll even bother wasting my time seeing this film.
The Hunger Games was one of the biggest letdowns of 2012 and I’m more than certain The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will follow suit, but I’d sure love to be wrong.
The film opens in theaters and on IMAX screens on November 22nd, 2013.
