Following their two collaborations on Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, director David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence are planning on teaming up again. According to Deadline, Russell is in talks to rewrite and direct the Fox 2000 project that centers on the life and career of Joy Mangano, the successful inventor of the Miracle Mop.
As you can guess, Lawrence would be playing Mangano, a woman who struggled as a single mother working three jobs to support her kids and finally got a break with her invention of the Miracle Mop. Annie Mumolo, who co-wrote Bridesmaids with Kristen Wiig, wrote the script for the film.
With the talent already attached, this seems like this project will be a fascinating and genuine rags-to-riches tale. Let’s not hold our breath though because Russell has attached himself to projects before having them falling through at the last minute. If this does happen, then this may be a project worth getting excited about. Make sure to check back for more updates as they come our way.
