Horror director James Wan is stepping down after delivering two solid entries in the now series known as Insidious. Wan has only recently changed pace as a director, with his latest film, Fast & Furious 7, set to be released next year.
There’s a sequel to The Conjuring that he’s not directing and now Insidious: Chapter 3 has been handed over to its co-creator (and Wan’s frequent collaborator) Leigh Whannell. Together, the two created the widely-popular Saw franchise and the Insidious franchise, not to mention that they’ve worked together on pretty much everything else in between.
Now, Whannell will be directing (from a script that he also wrote) the third entry, which is set to take place before the first two films. Other than that, I’m not exactly sure what the third film is about just yet, which shouldn’t alarm anyone, because it isn’t dropping until next May.
