After months of speculation, Jack Reacher director Christopher McQuarrie has officially accepted the mission to direct Mission: Impossible 5. Paramount and Skydance have announced that the director, who also wrote The Usual Suspects and Valkyrie, will reunite with Tom Cruise for the latest installment.
“I am thrilled to reunite with Chris for the latest installment in the Mission series,” said Cruise. “I began producing the films with the goal that a different director with his own vision would make each one. Chris is an extraordinary filmmaker who will deliver the heart-pounding action and thrills that audiences around the world have come to expect from the Mission: Impossible franchise.”
Tom Cruise will produce the film through his Tom Cruise Productions banner along with Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. It’s expected that Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton will return. No official release date has been confirmed but it’s wise to predict that we’ll see Mission: Impossible 5 in theaters late next year or sometime in 2015. Do you think Christopher McQuarrie is a good choice?
