Sony has revealed the first two posters for Paul Greengrass’ upcoming docudrama Captain Phillips starring Tom Hanks. Check out the posters below (courtesy of the film’s official Facebook page).

The film tells the true story of Captain Richard Phillips (Tom Hanks) and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. Phillips spent three days as a hostage of the Somali pirates before being rescued by Navy SEALs.

I’m looking forward to this. I mean come on, Paul Greengrass is a great director who hasn’t made a dull film yet. Judging from the trailer that made its way online a couple months ago, Captain Phillips looks like it’s going to be an intense recount of a heroic true story.

Captain Phillips arrives in theaters on October 11th. The film is directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93) and was written by Billy Ray (Breach and State of Play) based on Richard Phillip’s memoir A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days At Sea. What do you think of the new posters?
