Anticipating Will Ferrell’s Return In ‘The House’

Will Ferrell is one of our best-loved comedy movie stars, and so it’s great to see this trailer for his upcoming movie, The House.

The House will be released on 30 June 2017, and it sees Ferrell and his co-star, Amy Poehler, as the cash-strapped parents who have to find alternative means to send their beloved daughter through college.

And so rather than doing the sensible thing and getting a student loan, the pair team up with their family friend, Frank – excellently played by Jason Mantzoukas – to start an illegal casino in the basement of their suburban home.

Obviously things don’t quite go to plan, and the project devolves into strip clubs and underground fighting tournaments, whilst the increasingly unhinged parents aim to keep the truth from their daughter, Alex, played by Ryan Simpkins.

It’s looks like a great opportunity to see the dream pairing of Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler at work. Whilst we all know Ferrell from iconic comedy movies like Anchorman and Zoolander, Poehler is more renowned for her work in TV on shows like Saturday Night Live and Parks and Recreation.

Whilst the New Line movie looks to be another fairly typical American comedy, the unusual premise of starting an underground casino does make it a little different from the rest. With the online casino gaming craze continuing to gain ground thanks to sites like New Jersey Online Casinos, it’s a particularly timely subject matter for the movie.

And with Ferrell looking to be on fine form as the mathematically-challenged father in control of a gambling den, it opens up the movie to all manner of fun that should hopefully erase blips in the star’s filmography like 2015’s much-maligned, Daddy’s House.

What’s interesting is that the movie marks the directorial debut of Andrew J. Cohen. The screenwriter previously came to attention thanks to his co-write of the Neighbors movie that proved to be one of 2014’s surprise comedy successes.

And so whether it’s going to be another Ferrell tour-de-force like Step Brothers, or just another run-of-the-mill US comedy like Get Hard, remains to be seen.

But on the strength of the hilarious trailer, it looks like Farrell could be joining NJ Online Casino in showing how gambling can lead to all manner of thrilling entertainment!
